Genetically Defined Human Associated Microbial Culture Collection

(Ge-HuMiC)

Ge-HuMiC is a unique collection of more than 125 bacterial and fungal species isolated from different sites of the human body and also from the environment. Multiple isolates of each microbial species have been identified based on their 16S rRNA gene sequences and ITS-region, tested for antimicrobial resistance potency, and decoded into their whole genome sequences. A subset of microbes were also used to explore their proteome under optimal growth conditions. The primary goal of this facility is to develop a repository of genetically defined microbial culture collections, providing authentic microbial cultures to scientists in research institutes, universities, and industries for research and development. The user will have the opportunity to use these indigenous isolates for their own research programme and commercialization, following THSTI terms and conditions.
