Research Interests/ Research Summary
Our lab current research focuses on understanding virus biology and pathogenesis and actively engaged next generation vaccine development and anti-viral drugs. Our lab long standing research interest is to carry out innovative scientific research on Arbo viruses, Respiratory viruses, and Emerging viruses (Nipah, CCHFV, Ebola) by leveraging on the expertise gained from HIV, Influenza and Paramyxoviruses, thus creating a ' Translational Virology Platform'. We have developed an indigenous novel multivalent self-assembled nanocage based vaccine platform and collaborating with industry (Panacea Biotec, Serum Institute of India) for rapid development of affordable and indigenous subunit protein based vaccines. Additionally, we are developing preclinical animal models and assays to facilitate the development of vaccines, biotherapautics and anti-viral drugs. We are seeking collaboration with industrial, academic and start-ups to jointly develop affordable vaccines and drugs for patients-in need.
